So last night, I committed myself to running a 10 K. Yikes! The 10 K isn't until the end of April, so I have some time to train. It's a good challenge, and I am looking forward to it. Running has never really been "my thing," but I've always admired people that do run. I've been looking at 10 K training schedules, routines, recommendations, etc, and it's pretty exciting. I'll keep you updated on how the training is going... :)
Being on duty during J-term has been nice and relaxing. I've slept until at least 10:30 every day, and it's fun to organize, re-organize, and clean my room. The hall is so empty, it's almost creepy. Currently, there is nobody else on second or third floor. A few nights ago, Brittney and I were watching the Vikings game in the Blu Ray room, and the basement lights went on! They are automatic, but yet nobody else was in the building besides two of Brittney's residents who were in their room. I wonder what that was about... Last night Brittney, Monica, and I watched Bride wars, had hot cocoa, and did face masks. It's nice to relax and really have nothing (school-related) to do! You forget what it feels like sometimes to be bored. I am going to upload some pictures, scrapbook, and read for fun. What's that again? haha. Anyways, I'm feeling refreshed and ready to start a new semester, well maybe not quite yet, but I will be once a few more weeks pass.
I've been really into quotes lately, so I'm going to try to have a new one for each of my posts-
"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." ....New year, new challenges, new discoveries, new opportunities

Fall semester 2010 = over
Wow! Fall semester is oficially over. Seriously cannot believe it! You always hear "enjoy it while it lasts; before you know it, it'll be over." I've definitely enjoyed it, but it's gone much quicker than I ever thought it would. I've grown so incredibly close to the staff I work with. (Girls nights, kayaking, Holiday and Halloween parties, Sadie Hawkins, staff nights, snaps, etc.) We are such an incredibly diverse group of girls, it's absolutely insane. I didn't think they could have chosen a group of so many different personalities. Through being a second year RA, I'm so much more confident and laid-back, but in a good way. Things don't stress me out nearly as much as they used to. More so this year, I have learned truly how much you can learn from others, both the good and the bad. Every experience is a learning opportunity, it's up to you to react accordingly and take something from it. People that used to be acquaintances turned into friendships, which have since turned into "family."
Classes this semester were interesting. Who thought I'd be taking a class where I was able to play with parachutes, beanbags, and follow the leader, or even better, making puppets, doing mod podge, and making name tags? These things might sound ridiculous as college courses, but yep, that's the sort of work I get to do! Probably more than any other semester so far, I've enjoyed my classes and had a ton of fun in them. Yeah, those classes involved lesson plans that took countless hours to write, but the rest of the parts of class were a blast. How many people can say they honestly like going to class, most of the time anyways? (This girl!) Makes me super excited to be a teacher someday.
Back at home, things seem to change a little bit, but it's comforting and awesome to know that it's home and it's all the same. There is still that wonderful "home" smell, the always super exciting royal greeting from the dogs, big welcoming hugs from the parents, and relaxing but non-stop chaotic feel. Morgan running everywhere, parents to and from meetings, shopping, yardwork, laundry, etc. It's home, and I absolutely love it. To top it all off, my bed is probably the most comfortable bed on earth. Definitely a perk of being home. You don't realize how much you miss it until you aren't necessarily able to come home whenever you want to.
Yep, so that's basically what's happening in my life now, sweet dreams everyone!
